Swan Lake, MB – Prairie Mountain Elementary School gives big during the holidays.

The students at Prairie Mountain Elementary work very hard to fundraise for their favourite local charity, Heart 2 Heart.

Heart 2 Heart is a community food bank that supports families throughout the RM of Lorne. The staff at PMES encouraged students to raise money by volunteering/participating in challenges for every $250 raised. This dedicated staff had to do some pretty fun things like letting the kids do their hair and makeup, eating crickets, and having ice water dumped on them. This year, their campaign invited some parents and local “celebrities” (local hockey coaches and PMES division’s superintendent) to participate in these challenges. They volunteered to take pies in the face. It was all for fun and for a great cause.

All donations are used to help members of the community. Families in need received credit at local grocery stores where they can shop to fill their fridges and cupboards. In total, the school raised $9300 for Heart 2 Heart which helped so many families in the Municipality of Lorne this holiday season!

Because We Care – Because we care about our customers, employees, and the communities we operate in, we created the Because We Care Initiative.
