Tenant Insurance

Tenant insurance is often forgotten about since typically its not required to rent a space however its just as important to purchase tenant insurance as it is for a home owner to purchase home insurance. You could be renting a house, apartment or condo and your need for insurance is the same no matter which you rent.

Renters seem to expect tenant insurance to be expensive and often put off purchasing insurance for their belongings.  The truth is an insurance policy for a renter is often extremely affordable for starter limits of coverage.  It’s important to purchase coverage as it will insure all of your belongings (clothing, electronics, furniture, toiletries, kids toys etc), and in the event of a total loss it would be expensive to replace all of these items.

Some of the coverages included in your insurance policy are:

  • Personal property coverage - limit of insurance decided by client
  • Liability coverage - provides coverage if you accidentally injure someone or damage their property.
  • Additional living expenses - this coverage provides coverage for the extra costs of temporary housing, food and more if you are forced out of your home because of a claim.
